Your blood pressure is taken in two values, the systolic, where blood exert pressure when it comes into aorta from the heart and the second is diastolic, where blood exert prssure when the heart ventricles take rest between beats. Physicians check it in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg).
Excessive Blood Pressure is defined in an adult as the blood pressure greater than or equal to 140 mm Hg systolic pressure, or greater than or same as 90 mm Hg diastolic pressure. Reading of blood pressure greater than 140/90 is not normal & shows hypertension.
